August 2009 - Jack Foist, the 2-year-old by During(Cherokee Run) from Foist (Fob, half sister to Remind), made a determined run through the stretch to break his maiden second time out in the 4th race at Emerald Downs going five and one-half furlongs over the fast track.

Stalking the pace for the first three furlongs, he began to make his move coming off the final turn. Making a wide move, he closed resolutely, caught the leader with a furlong to run. Dueling to the finished, Jack Foist prevailed by a hard earned head.

April 2009 - Remind's sister Juncture (2006- El Prado/Watch the Time) run 2nd in her first start in a $30,000 Maiden Claiming over 7 furlongs at Keeneland on the all weather track.

She was claimed for $100,000 by Pompa Paul Jr who owns the 2008 Kentucky Derby and Preakness winner Big Brown and will transfer to the stable of Richard Dutrow who trained Big Brown and Saint Liam who won the 2005 Woodward and Breeders' Cup Classic en route to being named Horse of the Year.

Coolmore Studs shuttle stallion Dehere (Deputy Minister) has arrived safely in Melbourne from the United States for the upcoming season. He has shuttled to Australia in 11 of the past 13 seasons, missing only 2000 and 2001.

Dehere (2008 service fee $44,000) did not return to the US early and instead worked his way through a book of 122 mares last season, including Golden Slipper runner-up Crowned Glory (Danehill), Canterbury Guineas winner Fine Society (Marscay), multiple G2 winner Shania Dane (Danehill) and the million dollar yearling La Boisselle (Danehill).

Japanese Group1 winner for French Deputy

Admire Jupiter foiled Meisho Samson's bid to capture the marathon $2,369,811 Tenno Sho (Spring) (Jpn-G1) on Sunday 4th May at Kyoto when he outbattled the former champion Meisho Samson in a fierce stretch duel to prevail by a head.

The triumph was sweet for owner Riichi Kondo and trainer Yasuo Tomomichi, whose five-year-old French Deputy horse missed a run in the 2006 Tokyo Yushum (Japanese Derby), won by Meisho Samson, because of a broken leg that sidelined him for 16 months. "I still remember the time he broke his leg," Tomomichi said of Admire Jupiter. "If he hadn't gotten hurt, I think he would have given Meisho Samson some competition at the [Japanese] Derby two years ago. When he came back in the fall, I'd never thought he'd win the Tenno Sho."

Admire Jupiter covered 3,200 meters (15.91 furlongs) in 3:15.10 on turf rated firm.

Kondo said Admire Jupiter will be rested until fall and could be aimed for the Emirates Melbourne Cup (Aus-G1) which he has an invitation from Australia. Admire Jupiter has now had seven wins in 13 career starts.

May 2008 - Boss Lafitte from last to first in the USA Stakes

Boss Lafitte out of the Lord At War mare War Thief (half sister to Remind) closed from last to first to win the $100,000 USA, a 1 1/16-mile turf race for 3-year-olds. He raced about 10 lengths behind the pacesetter; Boss Lafitte launched a sweeping move on the final turn, and ran down the field to cover the distance over firm turf in 1:43.47. "He settled in good, and when we moved him to the outside turning for home he came with a nice run for us," said Garrett Gomez, who rode Boss Lafitte for trainer Tom Amoss.

Boss Lafitte won by three-quarters of a length over Golden Yank, while it was another 1 1/2 lengths back in third to Ablaze With Spirit. Boss Lafitte has now had 11 starts for 4 wins, 2 seconds and a third with the USA Stakes being his second in a stakes win behind the Grade 3 Transylvania at Keeneland in April taking his total earnings to $222,859.

April 2008 - Better Than Honour (Deputy Minister)
Kentucky Broodmare of the Year

The Kentucky Thoroughbred Owners and Breeders honored Better Than Honour, the dam of Belmont Stakes (G1) winners Jazil and Rags to Riches, as Broodmare of the Year. The 12-year-old Deputy Minister mare out of Blush With Pride, by Blushing Groom (Fr) is the only broodmare to produce consecutive Belmont winners.

Meanwhile her daughter American Champion 3yr Filly, Rags to Riches who was retired from racing in March due to re-injuring her right front pastern has had a positive test to Ashford Studs, Giant's Causeway.

Better Than Honour's son Casino Drive, by Mineshaft, has arrived in America from Japan after winning an 11 ½-length maiden victory at Kyoto in February and will attempt to become his dam's third straight Belmont Stakes winner. He is expected to prep for the Belmont Stakes in the $200,000 Peter Pan Stakes (gr. II) at 1 1/8 miles on the 10th May.

April 2008 - Boss Lafitte wins Central Bank Transylvania Gr3

Boss Lafitte out of the Lord At War mare War Thief, (half sister to Remind) won the $150,000 Central Bank Transylvania gr. III at Keeneland. A 1 1/16-mile test for 3-year-olds, the Transylvania was originally scheduled for the turf but was run on Polytrack due to the inclement weather.

A son of Dynaformer (Roberto-Andover Way, by His Majesty), Boss Lafitte won for the third time in nine starts and earned his first stakes score and taking his earnings to $161,040. Trained by Tom Amoss, the bay colt's last victory came in allowance competition Jan 26 on a sloppy track at Fair Grounds. He also won on the Fair Grounds turf as a 2-year-old.

Boss Lafitte struck the front at the top of the lane; the only challenge in the final sixteenth came from Riley Tucker, who continued to edge closer in the final yards under Edgar Prado. But Robby Albarado urged the dark bay colt to the wire in time.

"He's a nice horse, and I rode him with confidence," Albarado said who rode for the first time Thursday since guiding Curlin to victory in the $6-million Dubai World Cup. "Tom gave me basic instructions; just get him in a comfortable position."

Trainer Tom Amoss said he will move back to turf for his next race, although he now has won on three surfaces. "I think the Crown Royal (American Turf, gr. IIIT, May 2) is a big possibility for us at Churchill Downs on Derby weekend," Amoss said. "We always felt this horse likes grass. Usually form translates from this surface to grass."
